Act
2 – The Creation of Eve
The scene is a workshop. On the backdrop is a huge palette with a
full range of color and a variety of brushes. Stage Left is a table
slanted to face the audience. Adam is on the table with his left arm over
his head, a wound scar is seen on his side. Stage Right is another
table, slanted away from the audience. God - in a black thigh-length
artist robe, paces back and forth between the tables.
God
rubs His hands over Adam’s form from shoulder to waist.
He goes Center Stage and gestures the manly V-shape toward
the audience. He shakes His head and rubs His chin.
Taking a step backwards, God gestures the feminine hourglass shape
toward the audience. He
smiles!
God takes His time, forming the shape of the woman. He uses the
paintbrushes and color to gesture the creation of her features and hair.
Standing
beside Eve’s table, God lifts her stiff arm into view. (Soft jazz begins
to play.) With subtle movements, a growing suppleness comes into her limb.
A lock of long flowing hair spills off the table. Both arms are seen
stretching and playing with the tune.
God
– “So be it!”
Stage
fades to black.
