Short pieces to cheer you!Sidedish

Camerado, I give you my hand! I give you my love more precious than money,
I give you myself before preaching or law;
Will you give me yourself?

Seeing the Big Picture (Part 1) (Part 2)

  Scientists have proven that people who view their lives having purpose and passion are happier than those who do not.  (Duh!)

First, a story: Building a Cathedral

"Once there were three bricklayers busily working in the hot afternoon sun. When asked what they were doing, the first bricklayer answered gruffly "I'm laying bricks."  The second man replied, "I'm putting up a wall." But the third bricklayer said enthusiastically and with obvious pride, "I am building a beautiful cathedral!"

OK, Purpose and Passion is activated in our lives not by WHAT we do but by what we THINK about what we do?   Am I just a housewife or am I creating a home imbued with... whatever quality is appropriate:  peacefulness, creativity, fun... etc.?

Attitude baby, it's all in your attitude.  Is that right?!

I see more in the story than that.  The first bricklayer that was "laying bricks" was doing someone else's dull dream, probably not by his own choice, perhaps as a "job" to be paid so he could do something he wants to do, which obviously is NOT laying bricks!  Suffice to say he didn't OWN the job.

The second bricklayer has more of the big picture.  Building a steady wall that will stand the test of time is worthwhile.  Does he internally own the work?  Is he CHOOSING to build the wall or is it a job to further other pursuits?  Who knows!  But he seems to have more satisfaction in his work than the first guy.

The third guy is...
